Life feels better with massage! ... and acupuncture!

  • Swedish Massage:  The term “Swedish Massage” refers to a variety of techniques specifically designed to relax muscles by applying pressure to them against deeper muscles and bones, and rubbing the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart. The main purpose of Swedish massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles. Swedish massage shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes. It increases circulation without increasing heart load. It stretches the ligaments and tendons keeping them supple and pliable. Swedish Massage also stimulates the skin and nervous system and soothes the nerves at the same time. It reduces stress, both emotional and physical, and is suggested in a regular program for stress management. It also has many specific medical uses.
  • Lomi Lomi:  Lomi Lomi is a form of massage that originated in Hawaii. Following the idea that a belief can block energy flow as much as muscle tension can, Lomi Lomi helps release the blockages and simultaneously, gives the energy new direction. Thus, Lomi Lomi is not just a physical experience, it also facilitates healing on the mental, emotional, and spiritual levels. Gentle stretches of the body and gentle rotation of the joints are incorporated to assist the release of tensions and assist the flow of energy, not forcing, but feeling the level of the client’s resistance or comfort. The massage can be physical therapy or a vehicle for the release of emotions, traumas, tension, stress and blocked energy. It is used to revive the body, to move blood and lymph, release muscle spasms, and facilitate waste product removal from muscle and connective tissue. The concepts of unconditional love, grace, beauty, and spirituality are inherent in Lomi. The practitioner will predominantly use the soft part of the forearm coupled with a dancing motion to create the long, gliding strokes intrinsic to Lomi. Fingertips, hands, knuckles and elbow may also be used.

Lomi Wawae:  Similar to reflexology, Lomi Wawae is a non-invasive technique that improves circulation in the feet, promotes relaxation and contentment, revitalizes the body, and normalizes body functions.  Each session includes sea salt foot scrub with a free aromatherapy upgrade.

Hot Stone:  A 90 minute session of pure soothing techniques, plus hot stones for a deep relaxation session.  Please allow two hours notice.

Hot Stone Infusion:  Enjoy 60 minutes of a combination of techniques, plus hot stones.  The stones have a deep calming and soothing effect and will prepare your tense muscles for deep tissue massage in problem areas.  Gentle heat deepens the relaxation and benefits of therapeutic massage.  Please allow two hours notice.

Pre Natal:  Special care and safety precautions for mother and baby. Decrease pain and tightness in back and legs. Relaxing techniques for neck and head.

Aroma/Essential Oils Therapy:  The ability of essential oils to act on both mind and body is what makes them truly unique among natural therapeutic agents. The fragrance of one essential oil can be very stimulating psychologically and physically. And the fragrance of another essential oil may be calming and sedating, helping to overcome anxiety or hyperactivity. Essential oils are some of the most powerful known antioxidants, are antibacterial, antifungal, anti-infectious, antimicrobial, antiparasitic, antiviral, and antiseptic. Essential oils promote emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being.

  • Trigger Point:  Trigger points can present themselves as referred patterns of sensation such as sharp pain, dull ache, tingling, pins and needles hot or cold, as well as can create symptoms such as nausea, ear ache, equilibrium disturbance, or blurred vision. These small, hyperirritable sites in the muscle tissue sometimes refer pain to other locations as in headaches or sciatica. It is closely aligned with the eastern technique of acupressure massage and treatment techniques are very similar. Trigger point is a pain-relief technique to alleviate muscle spasms and cramping. The therapist locates and deactivates “trigger points” which are often tender. These areas are where muscles have been damaged or acquired a recurring spasm or kink that worsens painfully when aggravated. The major goals are to reduce spasm and induce new blood flow into the affected area. Spasms also physically reduce blood flow to the trigger point area (ischemia), reducing oxygen supplied to the tissues and increasing the spasm. Pressure is applied to trigger points, for a short time (between 7 to 10 seconds), which can be momentarily painful but is greatly relieving.

  • Sports Massage:  Sports Massage is a special form of massage and is typically used before, during, and after athletic events. The purpose of the massage is to prepare the athlete for peak performance, to drain away fatigue, to relieve swelling to reduce muscle tension, to promote flexibility and to prevent injuries. Depending on the needs of the athlete, a variety of techniques are used. The technique often involves a blend of traditional Swedish Massage and Deep Pressure specifically designed to treat professional athletes. Each type of sport has different demands on the players. Each sport uses muscle groups in a different way. Sports massage is designed to address those specific concerns and may differ according to the sport the athlete plays.

  • Reflexology/Foot Massage: Reflexology is a gentle form of therapeutic treatment applied to the feet and sometimes to the hands. The feet are said to contain reflex areas that mirror and connect to all parts of the body including major organs and pressure on these points can actually influence your state of health. Function in the connecting area is improved and, at the same time, the body experiences overall relaxation and benefits to the circulation and elimination systems. When the body’s systems are at optimal functioning, self-healing is enhanced. Reflexology is viewed primarily as a stress reduction or relaxation technique. Using the thumb, finger, and hand, gentle pressure is applied to reflex areas of the feet in order to decrease stress and bring the body into equilibrium. A treatment usually lasts between 40 minutes and 1 hour.

  • Deep Tissue:  Deep Tissue Massage is a technique that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas, either following or going across the fibers of the muscles, tendons, and fascia. Deep tissue massage usually focuses on more specific areas and may cause some soreness during or right after the massage. However, you should feel better than ever within a day or two. Because many toxins are released, it is important to drink plenty of water after a deep-tissue session to help eliminate these toxins from the body.

  • Comfort Care:  Our seniors are living longer. It brings great joy to show love and compassion to the elderly and to improve the quality of their lives. Touching, listening, comforting, and relieving isolation, chronic pains, stresses and fears are frequently the most significant gifts that can be given to any of us. 30 minutes of soothing, gentle, Swedish massage techniques are used.

  • Acupuncture:  Acupuncture works by stimulating the central nervous system to release chemicals in muscles, spinal cord and brain that can alter biochemicals in a way that may relieve pain, stimulate healing and promote emotional health. Acupuncture can help treat a wide variety of illnesses by relieving pain symptoms associated with these illnesses. It can help with conditions as diverse as abdominal pain, diarrhea, anxiety, menopause, chronic pain, arthritis, headaches, smoking addiction, to name a few.
